Best Way to Travel From Positano to Florence

Hi All:

Wondering if you could help me decide how to get from Positano to Florence.

We are planning on taking an early train to Florence so we can have a full day. Originally we were going to take the more "scenic" route and travel to Salerno to take the train to Florence instead of taking a car service to Naples for train.

What are your thoughts? The hotel (Buca di Bacco) suggested Naples as the roads are more direct(high way like).

Thanks!

From April 1 through October 31, take the ferry boat to SALERNO, walk 800 meters to the Salerno train station, then take either Trenitalia OR Italo Treno to Florence.

Hi GAC

Thank you for your help, however the Ferry does not run until 10A getting us in Salerno at 11:10 AM.

We were hoping to take a 6 or 7 AM train to Florence. That being said we think our only option at this point would be to take a taxi just now debating to leave out of Salerno or Naples.

Thanks!

If you don't take the ferry, your only other option is a taxi or bus. If you take a taxi, it would be better to take the train from Naples to Florence, in which case you would need to leave Pos around 5:30 if you want to catch the 7:00 train.

You can save about 100 Euros by choosing this solution:

1. Positano to AMALFI by taxi: approx. 30 Euros

2. AMALFI to Naples by direct SITA bus (no connections) at 6:20 a.m. Fare = 4.10 Euros

NOTE: Service Monday through Friday only

3. Arrive Naples 8:15 a.m. Walk approx. 250 meters to Napoli Centrale train station

4. Take any train to Florence departing after 8:45 a.m. (either Trenitalia or Italo Treno)

A taxi from Positano to Naples costs about 130 Euros, so this solution saves nearly 100 Euros

Good solution GAC. Is there an ealier bus from Amalfi, since they said they wanted to catch the 6 or 7:00 train?
