Our 2 favorite restaurants in Praiano are

La Strada

La Brace

Both are on the "hill" side of the street but have views of the cliffs and the Med. to Positano. Both typical Italian fare, reasonably priced.

We found the food at the Hotel Onda Verde to be very good. Down near the water in the little cove are a couple of restaurants also.

I also recommend La Brace. Friendly service, great views from the window tables, and excellent seafood and pasta. The local house wines are very affordable and good.

all the restaurants are 'local' in praiano. we love the atmosphere (and food) of Il Pirata, also Alphonso Al Mare and Open Gate. For pizza, i like Canestaro's. mmmm just thinking about it all makes me hungry. :)

Don't bother with La Strada. The name which translates to "The Street" hints at the fact that there is a passageway right through the centre of the restaurant. We were amazed to find various people walking through including a man with a dog whilst we were eating. The food was okay but we found the owner to be quite rude and unhelpful.

La Brace serves good local food and has a friendly atmosphere but for something special try Un Piano nel Cielo at Casa Angelina. The food is wonderful, they have an excellent wine list and the Head Waiter and his staff are charming.

We loved La Brace because of the service and relaxed atmosphere.

La Strada is ok if your table is on the roof terrace. You also get a good view as well. Try the carpaccio made from the daily catch, on a bed of rocket.

Il Pino, close to the church, is surprisingly good, with an interesting menu. It seems to sit on top of an airconditioning plant though, so be prepared for an occasional low rumble during your meal.

We were staying at Casa Angelina so we ate at Un Piano nel Cielo for the first night. The menu is inventive and service was top-notch, but overall a bit pricey.

La Gavitella, a seafood restaurant on the rocky beach underneath Casa Angelina, is also expensive but serves excellent seafood. Very standard fare for these parts: grilled fish, marinated seafood. Ingredients are fresh as you would expect. If you dine there you can save yourself a water taxi fare (around €15) by taking the restaurant's own water taxi to Positano.

The restaurant at San Pietro is excellent, as you would expect from a Michelin-star establishment.

Alfonso di Mare on the Marina Praia is friendly and unpretentious. Staff went out of their way to pick us up at our hotel, and drive us back after dinner. Ask for a table outside, right on the beach.

I nominate Tramonto d`oro for quality/value, La Strada also (v.friendly too), La Brace OK, but so many we didn`t try this time.

At least 10 to choose from, several a good walk from town down hundreds of steps but we were told worth it.

Found the seafood & fish excellent everywhere.

Most enjoyable dining experience at Cumpa Cosimo, end of main street in Ravello, the most beautiful town. Recommend arriving for a stroll in town, a cold beer in marketplace, chill for a while, (and watch a wedding at the church like we did!) eat at Cosimo`s and go to concert at Villa Rufolo.

I agree with snogitaly. We loved that restaurant in Ravello!! We really wanted to go back again. We can't understand the revewier's comments on La Strada about it being a walk through. What is he on about!! Upstairs or downstairs there is no walk through. It's an excellent restaurant and experience.
