Bus Ride

HI

What is the best way to travel on the amalfi coast, by bus or ferry? I heard the bus ride offers a nice view. What is the nicest drive..From sorrento to amalfi or from amalfi to Ravello?

The most scenic bus ride is from Sorrento to Amalfi but the ride up from Amalfi Ravello is also nice.

Dear Rodanne8,

As Gerardo1 mentions, both routes by car or bus from Sorrento to Amalfi and from Amalfi to Ravello are quite beautiful with views of Capri (near the Penisola Sorrentina), lemon groves, Li Galli islands(in Positano), Positano, Praiano, and much more.

The ride from Sorrento to Amalfi is a drive on a coastal road and lasts probably around 4-5 times longer than the drive from Amalfi to Ravello. The drive from Amalfi to Ravello goes up the hill and inland/away from the ocean so the views consist of more valley than ocean views.

I prefer taking the ferry because the ride is a near beeline from one port to the other (Sorrento-Amalfi), however, the SITA bus is less expensive and sometimes more fun as we usually end up befriending the driver and some locals.

Buona Fortuna...
