It is one of the times we like to visit. The town starts to go into winter mode after the Nov 1 public holiday but does not really slow right down until after the New Year. We have always found plenty of places to eat, shop etc. All the sites eg Pompeii are open.

Nov is traditionally one of the wettest months but rain has never got in the way during our visits. For some reason seems to happen mainly at night! Pleasantly warm when the sun shines but not really shorts weather. We have had one or two very windy days which has meant cancellation of boat services to Capri or Naples. But who can say what this year will bring?

Restaurants etc. all open in October and usually pleasant enough in our experience for outside dining in the evening.

Only mentioned the feeling of winding down because we also go at different times of the year and you can feel a shift / sense of relief from those in the tourist industry!

We have also been lucky enough to have sunbathing by the pool weather but it is very likely you will experience rain and thunderstorms at some point.

Even in the winter (Feb) when I have visited Sorrento, there are restauratns open and shoping is great. Some of the restaurants are closed there, but enough open so that finding a palce to eat was not a problem.
