Hi have been reading your info:). 3 women in our 40's, wondering what you think of this trip? Athens , iOS ,Naxos, and Santorini in mid September. Never been to Greece before. The other option is Athens , Mykonos and santorini? any advice ? Thanks :)

Hi Ios and Naxos our two favourite islands (along with Crete). By mid September Ios will be winding down so quieter ok if you don't want to party the big night clubs will be closed. So its more low key with excellent beaches and tavernas. A good time to visit Naxos which is a more typical Greek island. Santorini and Mykonos being the most expensive islands are more touristy and will be still busy enough. All these islands are only short ferry rides apart so easily to travel between. From Athens you can fly or use ferries to the islands. Hope this is of some help you maybe better posting on the Cyclades forums for more info.

Hi tl4

You would be better doing the islands in this order - Athens, Naxos, Ios and Santorini, otherwise you would be doubling back from Ios to Naxos and then back to Santorini.

We were in Ios last September and it was just as KandPaul said - winding down.

We would recommend staying at Island House on Milopotas beach. See the TA Reviews

4. Re: first time to Ios - what;s it like what to do?

Hi all. I'm traveling to Ios in June with my girlfriend for the first time and we need a little advice. We're staying from Sunday to Sunday on the island, but our plan is to fly in on Saturday and spend a night in Santorini before getting an early ferry across to Ios on the Sunday morning.

Can anyone recommend a nice little hotel not too far away from the harbour for a night stop? just looking for something clean and tidy for one night, and not too expensive.

Thanks in advance

Hi Andy the port at Santorini is at the bottom of a steep hill so hotels are located in the resorts. Best to book hotels that provide transfers to/ from airport/port. Better than taxi transfer. Booking.com or similar sites are good for hotels. We have not stayed in Santorini for 12 years so cannot recommend hotels. Posting on the Santorini forum you may get more recommendations.
