Restaurants in and around Millau

We plan to be in Millau at lunchtime next month. Weather permitting, we would like to have a light lunch al fresco. Any suggestions for that or other restaurants/cafes in Millau or along the D992/D999 route to Roquefort-sur-Soulzon? I'm aware of the Château de Creissels restaurant, but wonder if it might be a bit much for lunch as to food and price.

In Place Foch in Millau town centre there is a very good, but simple, moules and frites specialist restaurant called Danny's. They also do a number of regional specialities and salads. Auberge La Vigne Gourmande (tel. 05 65 58 86 12) in Candas on the D41 about 10 km out of Millau (but you get to drive right under the Millau Viaduct which is stunning) doesn't have a menu as such, the owner just cooks on a open fire what the hunters have brought in that morning. Fantastic. You can carry on along that road and rejoin the D992 via St Rome du Tarn and St Rome de Cernon. Roquefort is only 25 minutes from the auberge. I have a house just down the road from the auberge and eat there whenever I go. I have lots more suggestions if you need.

Thanks a lot for your recommendations. Is the route you suggest more scenic than the D992?
