Day trip to calais?

We are visiting Calais on at day trip at the weekend, having never been before we are unsure what there is to do there.

We have heard about theses hypermarkets for cheap beer etc; but don;r really want to spend much time in them.

We want to see some scenery, would it be better to leave the car at the port and get a bus somewhere or is it easy enough to drive and park up there.

Can anyone recommend any towns to visit apart from Calais

Many Thanks

Don't bother stopping in Calais as it's about as interesting as watching paint dry.

It depends how long you have in France but one journey would be to take the coast road (D940) down towards, or to, Boulogne.

Plenty of villages, scenery and eating places en-route and Saturday morning market in Boulogne.

Le Touquet is another hour or so beyond Boulogne if you have the time.

Parking is not usually a problem in France

Alternatively you could go to St Omer (only an hour drive) which is ten times more French than Calais and well worth a visit.

You will find plenty of info on the Nord/Pas de Calais region on this great little website. Spend a bit of time perusing it and I'm sure you will find a number of places of interest to YOU.....

Bon Voyage
