We are considering travel in early April 2014 from London to Dover (train), then taking the ferry to Calais, overnighting in Calais, then taking the train to Paris the next day. Per one source, this is probably more scenic and less expensive, but more complicated and time-consuming than the Eurostar or air travel. With that as context,
1. How difficult/easy is it to hail a taxi from the ferry terminal at Calais (not sure what time we will arrive) to get to our B&B and to get a taxi from our B&B to the train station?
2. Does this journey (train to Dover, ferry to Calais) become more difficult on weekends than weekdays?
3. Finally, I am having trouble even booking a train or ferry on-line for the April time frame. Perhaps it is too soon?
Thank you in advance.
