where is good to go on holiday for a week with young family?

Hi I hoping to book a villa or cottage of some sort but not sure where as Ive never been to france. I don't want it to be longer then an hours drive from Calais as my children will already of been traveling for 5hrs but want some where close to a beach. Any ideas on what areas are good for children?

Not sure about gites as never stayed in one in France, but offer a few places to visit if I may.

Le Touquet has a good SANDY beach and also Aqualand (I think its called that) which is a swimming pool type complex near the beach.

In Boulogne Sur Mer there is another sandy beach, and if your children like aquaruims there is one on the seafront as I will call it, called Nausicca, which is one of my favourite aquaruims there is.

I don't have children so really can't help much but offer up two suggestions that may/may not be ok. I am imagining for your profile picture they are quite young children.

I guess it all depends on time of year you are planning on coming I guess. I've been to quite a few places in Northern France, but thinking more of child friendly places and ideas for you.

As said before, Le Touquet is nice (but a bit more expensive, because it used to be the resort of the old upper society.)

Fort Mahon Plage, Le Crotoy, are other small nice towns.

Also Cap Gris Nez/Cap Blanc Nez is a nice area, and very Close to Calais (20-25mins)

Sorry if this is the wrong forum (!) but if you turn left at Calais and head up to Belgium, the coast there has plenty of sandy dunes that a young family would enjoy.
