Calanque by Car?

My family of four plan to visit Cassis ffor a day (we're staying at Maubec).

We are not avid hikers so we would like some recommendations on where the quickest hike would be to a Calanque. We just want to park our car somewhere safe then walk to picturesque place where we can have a relaxed picnic.

Oh, and any recommendations for some good boullabaise?

Personally I would go to Cassis, look around and then have lunch at one of the many restaurants in the port and then take a boat trip to the Calanques - much easier than driving.

Thank you, Boucheboy.

We actually plan to go to Cassis first and have an early lunch, probably bouillabaise at Chez Gilbert as I read the this restaurant is a member of the Marseillaise Bouillabaisse Charter.

From Chez Gilbert, we prefer to go by car and hopefully, just a brief walk, because we would like to see the calanques from above.

Hello

You don't mention what time of year you are visiting Cassis, but be advised that parking is a bit of a nightmare in the main tourist season. The Tourist Office recommends that visitors leave their cars at the out-of-town park-and-ride facility and take the shuttle bus in.

If you do this, there are various options for visiting the calanques from the town centre: the little tourist train and the tourist shuttle bus. Or you can walk (about half an hour). If you really want to bring the car into Cassis, there's a car-park at Port Miou, the closest calanque, though this gets very full in summer. Thank you. We plan to visit sometime between April 28 to May 4; most probably on May 1.
