lindau/fussen or munich with kids

we are family with two young boys 6 and 7. we will finish a ski holiday in Austria just before xmas on 20 Dec before heading up to rothenburg for xmas, then strasbourg and heidelberg before flying home from Frankfurt on new years day.

from 20 Dec, will 4 nights in lindau/fussen area be more suitable than 4 nights in munich? from my understanding lindau is more a summer destination?

we intend to travel by car once we leave Austria on 20 dec. will driving in the areas outlined above be pretty straightforward? we live in sunny Perth

thanks for any advice in advance!

I really like Lindau, but I agree that it is a summer destination, and also that it would have limited appeal for kids of that age. Its a small, compact island with restaurants, shops, art galleries, a casino, small parks. Munich would have many more activities and sites that would interest them.

Erding, just outside Munich (near the Munich airport) has what is supposedly the largest thermal spa in Europe. It also has a waterpark. Perhaps your kids would enjoy that.
