Any 'Family friendly' pubs later in the evening in Paignton

If anyone can tell me a pub in Paignton which will let an 18yr old inside after 8.30pm-9pm ( without ID but only drinking non-alcoholic drinks,) I would appreciate a quick heads-up for the rest of our holiday.

We tried lots of places yesterday but at 8.30pm were either let in past the bouncers, bought drinks and then were told we had 10 minutes to drink up and go or were told "no children allowed" .

As we don't like sitting outside in a smoke filled atmosphere we are a bit stumped as to where to go for a drink later in the evening ..

Spoling what should have been his last enjoyable holiday with us before fleeing the nest!

Is no ID the problem as my teens always carried it my daughter still does and she is 25

Found the Spinning Wheel on sea front very friendly

You should not have any problems as has already been mentioned 18 is the legal age for drinking in this country?

"You should not have any problems as has already been mentioned 18 is the legal age for drinking in this country?"

Which is fine as long as you can prove your age which OP specifically mentioned was a problem for her son on their current holiday....

I would probably head to either or all:

Palace Hotel, Paignton Seafront,

Boathouse, end of Preston Sea front, (also does food, but a bit pricy)

Embassy Tavern, Colin Road.

Ship Inn in Manor Road ( which is also okay for food)

Half Moon, Torquay Road,

Old Manor Inn, Torquay Road

Thanks for suggestions,

The Spinning Wheel website says after 9pm kids allowed in the upstairs bar so will try that next time . We were downstairs last night when they told us we would have to leave about 8.20pm.

Will give the others mentioned a call to check .

(Thought the Students union card would count as proof of age, but apparently not as it's easily faked! )

.

StaffordJas: Guess pubs are having to be very careful at the moment, Spinning Wheel is very popular so more likely to be spot checked by the Police, you should be fine in the others I mentioned but they are not as lively as the Spinney!!

Well, decided to try upstairs in the Spinning Wheel.......... sign on top of steps saying upstairs bar closed tonight

After an earlier meal and drinks in town we went to 'Inn on the Green' on our way back to our hotel and no problem with us going in there later on in the evening, so looks like that will become our 'local' for the rest of our stay.

Will have a walk to the Old Manor Inn when the weather is (hopefully) better. Looks nice from the website.
