Le Chable-Verbier Tv

We have just made a reservation for a nice appartment in Le Chable. We want to go skiing what is the best place to rent our ski's? In Le Chable or in Verbier? And when it is in Le Chable do they have a locker near the Ski station (TV) to Verbier ?

If you google ski locker le chable you get this:

LE CHABLE:

At the Le Châble lift station, you will find 30 ski lockers and 20 self-service lockers.

(CHF. 2 - per day, limited to 24 hours)

I can't comment on where the best rental shop is in Le Chable - I haven't used them. Unless you want anything very specialised, you shouldn't need to go to Verbier. Le Chable may even be a bit cheaper.

Ski service offers the best service and price. They are in Verbier just 75m from the main lift. I'm pretty sure you can leave your ski's with them overnight as well.

Go to skiservice website like their FB page to get an even better deal.

Ski Service are fine if you want specialised stuff. But I certainly wouldn't leave my stuff there if I was in Le Chable. The whole advantage of Le Chable is to 'sail past Medran' each morning without getting stuck in the queues. Using a Verbier rental/locker would be a big hassle.

Hello JT,

Starting this winter Ski Service will have lockers up the mountain at Les Ruinettes so you won't even need to stop at Médran on your way down to Le Chable. It's free to store skis with them when you rent with them. You can save 20% on all equipment hire by claiming a discount here http://goo.gl/LhwFi3 and then booking at skiservice.com

There are lockers at Ruinettes now. But it isn't exactly fun to stop at Ruinettes each day. Skiing back down to Verbier for apres ski and then gondola down to Le Chable seems more logical. But if you wanted to miss everything below 2100m at the end of the day, I guess it is a solution. Would be a catastrophe if weather was bad the next day and you preferred Bruson.... Where is Ski Service putting their lockers? Generally everything there is provided by Televerbier.

I think it's a great idea to be able to store your kit up the mountain and then be able to do Verbier après ski, then if needed get the lift down the valley.

JT The same would be for any ski storage in Verbier if you then go else where in the Verbier 2 valleys.

If you stay in Le Chable, you can keep your skis in Le Chable - as I said, leaving them in Verbier is a bad idea for many reasons. I agree that leaving skis at Ruinettes could work as long as 1. you rule out going to Bruson and 2. you rule out any apres ski at 1936, Carrefour etc. Sounds restrictive to me.

JT14 has an excellent point. If someone is based in le Châble the last thing you want on a good powder day at Bruson is to have your skis either at Médran or Ruinettes in Verbier OR in a Verbier ski shop's lockers for that matter.

As for prices and good quality skis - in Verbier for many many years our family has used No1 Sports which is at Médran. There is also Mountain Air on the Place Blanche and a host of other shops.

In le Châble - right AT the departure of the télécabines for Ruinettes and Bruson - is Montagne Show. They rent and store skis. Couldn't get more convenient than that!

Just to be clear Bruson is small and has limited piste but some good trees to play "if" you get powder... If you want powder your heading up to Verbier. Yes we go to Bruson when Verbier is too busy.

Don't get led astray about Bruson it's small.

Each to their own. Verbier's powder gets tracked much much quicker than Bruson. Unless your into lots of walking etc, I find you get more powder on a powder day in Bruson. But it's less dramatic terrain for sure. But wonderful for a morning in the right conditions. And relevant to someone in Le Chable.

But we aren't talking about one area vs another. Just about the risks of storing your skis away from your accommodation. You lose a lot of flexibility in a resort which has multiple start points like Verbier. And in peak season, Medran can be really busy.

I used to store my skis at Medran and gave up because it was a zoo, and you lost the flexibility to get up the mountain another way. If your skis are at Ruinettes, you can't take the bus to Carrefour and use Mayenzet..... That can add 40 minutes to your ski day when Medran is busy (or completely broken down which happened last season more than once....)
