1. No, you cannot buy a whole sheep - sorry. Farmers can slaughter their own sheep but only for personal consumption. In all other cases, it will have to go through a butchery. These are the regulations in Norway and in EU. The slaughtering season is September. You will find halal lamb/mutton in shops/supermarkets, but in most cases it will be frozen meat unless in season.

2. It should be no problem finding herbs and spices.

Access will be in the month of August.

Is it possible to define me places to go to and purchase them. (Supermarket, shops).

Is there a butcher shops sell meat (halal).

Thanks for the response.

I do not know Stavanger supermarkets/shops very well, so I would not know exactly. But I am reasonably sure you will find the kind of meat/butcher you are looking for. Just ask when you are there.

In Oslo there are several butcher shops run by muslim immigrants where you can buy halal-slaughtered lamb, I am sure it is also the case in Stavanger. Buying a whole lamb may require ordering a day or two in advance.

I'm unaware of any muslim butcher shop in Stavanger. We have one butcher in downtown Stavanger, Idsøe, and it is a traditional Norwegian butcher from 1828. I don't think they offer halal lamb and they don't mention it on their website.

The problem is that (Bergen) is not one of my plans, and take the meat from the Oslo difficult.

I will try to communicate with Idsøe.
