Disney hotel vs others

Going to disneyland Paris...in January 2012...

I love themagic hours at disneyworld....I was curious if it is worth the extra money for the disney hotels for the extra hours in Paris.....

Example...I don't feel like they are as needed at Disneyland...

I am currently resesarching what other perks you get for staying at the disneyland hotels..besides I love the disney theme!

In the Disney hotels you do get breakfast included, and park tickets if you book directly with Disney. Also each hotel have characters in them in the mornings...

Thats all the perks I know at the moment...I am sure other people will reply with more :-)

You can walk to all the Disney Hotels and dont have to fight your way onto a shuttle bus when busy. You can also have your purchases sent to your Hotel as there have been reports of peoplr having things stolen from their buggies.

I agree with the others - it is nice being so close to both parks and the Disney Village, and feeling part of the ' Magic '. Unlike WDW you can walk to both parks from all the 6 Disney hotels, and the most expensive Disneyland Hotel is built over the entrance to the main park, with the Studios just next door.

Characters are in the hotels at breakfast time, in Meet & Greet locations, and in the DLH they are outside the restaurants to meet people as they enter and leave. They are also usually there in the evenings, and sometimes during the day. The DLH has more Characters present at set times.

You can use the hotel Easy Pass like a credit card for all purchases instead of carrying cash, and they will debit your bank/ credit card at the end of your stay.

Even if you don't need EMH time for rides, it is still nice to enter an empty park at 8am to get some good photos/ video without people around, and you can get to Thunder Mountain quickly as soon as they open the gates to Frontierland at 10am, ahead of day visitors.

Doing the rides in Fantasyland and Discoveryland that are open for EMH means you don't have to queue for them during the day, which helps even when the park is not very busy at off peak times.

What dates in January are you going? Spanish schools do not go back until after their celebration National Holiday date on the 6th. The parks will be much less busy on weekdays after that, although Wednesdays can be more crowded as local French schools have half or full day holiday.

Purchases made in the parks before 3pm can indeed be sent back to your hotel shop for you to collect later. Other guests can have them sent to the Disney Store in the Village instead, and collect them there. Some things like ride photos are sometimes held at the purchase desk, so you can collect them before leaving the park. ( don't forget! ).

Breakfast and park tickets are also included in the Associated hotels if you book a package with Disney.

Guests staying in suites, Castle Club and Empire State rooms are given a VIP Fastpass which covers the duration of their stay, so they can use the FP entrance on rides with this facility as often as they like. ( no need to get tickets from the machines by the ride, and not limited to one at a time or waiting 2 hrs to get another. )

Guests staying in the DLH standard rooms are given one FP per day to use on any FP ride.

I agree with caspdex that it is nice being able to walk to / from the parks without waiting for a shuttle bus, or having to put up with the pushing and shoving that sadly happens at busy times when some guests do not respect a queue.

Guests staying in the DLH do not have to go through security checks to access the parks, as the hotel is the other side of this. People arriving from all the other hotels, car park and railway station all have to go through security.

Guests staying in Disney hotels and Associated hotels can book Cafe Mickey for Character Breakfast for a discounted price. ( cheaper for Disney hotels guests ).

The Sequoia Lodge, Newport Bay and New York hotels are good in summer, as they have indoor and outdoor pools, with sunbeds, so very nice to relax and sunbathe for a while on hot days when parks are busy.

You can still book Half Board if staying at an Associated hotel, but cannot use the vouchers there. They can only be used for lunch or dinner in buffets and table service restos in the parks, Disney hotels, and Disney owned restos in the Village.

We have had no problems on the RER train from a safety point of view, when we have travelled late at night from Paris back to Disneyland. One time we caught the last train at midnight from Chatelet Les Halles arriving in Disney around 00.40. Check what time the last train goes though, as it is not the same all year round.

Some parts of Paris are best avoided at night, and you need to be vigilant of pickpockets on the Metro. People on the Paris forum can help with questions about safety in the City.

If you are in an Associated hotel, your problem could be getting back to the hotel if you arrive back in Disneyland after the shuttle buses have stopped running. There may not be a taxi at the station, so you could end up having to walk which could take around 30 mins or more with no lighting.

That is when it is easier to be staying in a Disney hotel, or one within easy walking distance of the RER train stations along the line from Disney - Paris.

well I think we decide to splurge and use our Disney Vacation Club points for one of the Disney Properties..so if we go into Paris the first day/night and come back....we should be able to take the train and be safe walking back to our hotel (or it sounds like it)

MLV Chessy station is inside resort, between the Disney Village and the parks. It is just a short walk through the village to Lake Disney where the New York, Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay hotels are. The Cheyenne and Santa Fe hotels are slightly further walking alongside the Rio Grande canal - the path begins between the New York and Sequoia hotels.

The Disneyland Hotel is to the right as you exit Chessy station, as it is built over the Disneyland Park entrance.
