Extra magic hours - rides

We plan to travel to dlp 23rd -27th april. Since it will be busy we wanted to go into the park at 8am. We've never during the extra magic hours so not sure what to expect. What rides are 'usually' open? We want rides that will suit a 5yr old.

Thanks for your advice.

Exclusive extra time for some of the most popular attractions.

Imagine having up to two exclusive extra hours to enjoy some of your favourite attractions, before regular park opening! That's exactly what Extra Magic Hours offers. Introduced in 2007, it allows early risers to sneak through the gates long before everyone else, as the park is still fresh from its morning clean-up and the rides only just whirring into action. Little to no queues, lots of space and a feeling that you've the park entirely to yourself.

This very special perk is offered to a number of guests, falling into the categories below, though many choose to use the extra hour(s) from 8am only on particular days, meaning the feeling of exclusivity is always there.

Who can enjoy Extra Magic Hours?

The privilege is mainly used to encourage patronage of Disney's own hotels, and so if you stay at any of the following hotels, you'll be able to access Extra Magic Hours (and there's no extra charge):

Disneyland Hotel

Disney's Hotel New York

Disney's Newport Bay Club

Disney's Sequoia Lodge

Disney's Hotel Cheyenne

Disney's Hotel Santa Fe

Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch

Ah, but that's not all! Holders of an Annual Passport Dream also get access to all Extra Magic Hours as one of their many exclusive privileges, whether staying in a Disney Hotel or not.

Which attractions are open?

No specific attractions are announced as part of Extra Magic Hours and so the list cannot be guaranteed, but the selection, always from Fantasyland and Discoveryland, usually comprises:

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Peter Pan's Flight

Mad Hatter's Tea Cups

Le Carrousel de Lancelot

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast

Orbitron

Space Mountain: Mission 2

If you're enjoying Extra Magic Hours at Walt Disney Studios Park, which the resort does specify can happen on some dates, then the attractions open will likely include at the least: Crush's Coaster, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith and the attractions within Toy Story Playland.

How do you access Extra Magic Hours?

Extra Magic Hours normally begin at 8am and so far mostly take place at Disneyland Park. You'll need your Disney Hotel Easy Pass, a small identification card given upon check-in at Disney-owned hotels, or Annual Passport.

At the park gate, look for the signs reading "Disney Hotel guests" and follow them to the gate on the far-right, allowing you to bypass any other guests queueing at the main gate. Here, show your Disney Hotel Easy Pass or Annual Passport.

Once inside Disneyland Park, you are free to roam Main Street, U.S.A. often alongside other guests who are let into the street early to await "rope drop" when the other lands open. Now simply walk to the roped-off entrances to Discoveryland or Fantasyland at Central Plaza and show your Disney Hotel Easy Pass or Annual Passport again to be let through to the attractions.

Once inside the lands, you can move between Fantasyland and Discoveryland using the path behind Royal Castle Stage, rather than having to cross the roped-off Central Plaza again.

For a five yr old EMH is a must, the park is very empty at opening, and you often get to stay on the rides if no one is waiting..
