A] THere is no public transport as such on Samui. When the Lomprayah ferry arrives at Pralan Pier, Maenam there are always minibuses offering a shared journey to Chaweng. For departing ferries unless you book a ticket with transfer you will have to find your own way to Maenam. Different ferry companies use different piers, and the ferry companies may use different piers for different destinations.

A] there are no direct transport. It's a 15-20min journey on average. A shared minibus is around 100thb one way, a taxi will be around 400-500thb, whilst a songtheaw might be a bit cheaper.

A] hard to say, it will depend on where you rent it from. Your hotel would probably be the least hassle but probably a bit more expensive than the chap on the street.
