There's no train from Bushmills to Derry - you have to get a bus from Bushmills to Coleraine and then get the train from there.

Timetables are at www.translink.co.uk

or a bus from Bushmills to Portrush (train station in Portrush also) but Coleraine would be better as if you go from Portrush to Derry you are going to have to change trains in Coleraine (just crossing a footbridge takes a few minutes at Coleraine station) here is a network map for your reference also you can check train timetables at Translink.co.uk.....Translink run all trains and buses in Northern Ireland

Trains from Coleraine to derry every other hour you will need the Belfast-Antrim-ballymena-coleraine-Londonderry-Derry timetable Here: translink.co.uk/Documents/timetables/NIR%20D…

and for going back :http://www.translink.co.uk/Documents/timetables/NIR%20Dec%2013%20inbound%20outbound/Derry_Londonderry%20-%20Belfast.pdf

Cost £7.00 or so (14.00 before 9.30am) if you travel on a sunday you can buy a ticket called a day tracker and it will take you anywhere in Northern Ireland on the train all day and you can jump on and off the trains as many times as you want all day sunday but only in Northern Ireland and NOT in the republic of ireland

We are arriving on may bank holiday 26th may at George best airport. Would it be wise to use coast road to get to bushmills or leave it until the following Monday when we return. How long roughly would it take - with all the stops for photo shoots etc! If we take the shorter route how long would that take?

Thank you so much for the info. Will now definitely use the coastal road on our arrival day. Frightened we will miss the flight home if we leave it to the departure day!

Just remember trains Monday -Saturday in Northern Ireland are hourly sundays this goes down to every other other hour so just watch your train times you can get a free timetable at the stations, because NI railways is state owed fares are cheap here for example if you travel after 9-30am monday-saturday you get 1/3 off so for example coleraine to belfast is 11.70 return and as already said its £7 for a day tracker anywhere in NI on sundays
