Have a look at Biggin Hall which is TA recommended (although opinions vary !) and centrally located in the less steep southern Peak District, close to the former rail lines now used by cyclists and walkers. These routes will be busy and areas under trees may be muddy but the gradients are slight. Side roads are steeper but plentiful and generally quiet although Bank Holiday weekend will see them at their busiest.

There are good tracks round the reservoirs like Ladybower north of Bamford with train access into Bamford.

Bakewell would be another good location.

Carsington is loveley to cycle, we usually go once a week at least but on a week day night when it is very peaceful and often you only see a max of about 10 people your whole cycle. Just a word of warning, weekends and bank holidays can get really busy with walkers and cyclers so I would either try to go early or a bit later in the day when it has quietened down.

Where are you stopping at Cromford, Alison House by any chance?

Have fun, Emma

It is in a nice spot, we went to a wedding there last year, they had a marquee in the gardens which was nice. It could maybe do with a refurb in the bar/lounge areas, didn't see the bedrooms, but I am sure you will enjoy your stay. Rose Cottage at Matlock Bath does quite nice food if you are looking for somewhere for an evening meal. Hope you have fun! Emma
