Any thoughts?

Hello again!

I think we have finalized our Spring itinerary. We are trying to keep it kind of 'loose' to allow for the unexpected! ... hope it looks good to all of you.

Day 1:

Arrive Shannon 7am, pick up car and drive to Clifden. (2 drivers) Breakfast on the way and depending on how we feel, explore Clifden's surrounding area.

overnight in either Buttermilk Lodge or Foyles.

Day 2:

Husband plays golf at Connamara Golf Links while I take the kids and explore area. Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey, Sky Drive or Aran Island depending on what we were able to see/do Day one

overnight in the same.

Day 3:

On to Milltown Malbay via Roundstone, Ballyvaughan, Doolin, Explore Burren

overnight Bellbridge Hotel

Day 4:

Husband plays Lahinch Golf Links. Ailwee Cave with kids and continue to enjoy Burren, Cliffs of Moher. Maybe we all play at Spanish Point Golf.

overnight Bellbridge Hotel

Day 5:

On to Dingle via Tarbert Ferry. Maybe lunch in Listowel; on to Dingle, explore town, harbour.

overnight Pax guesthouse

Day 6:

Enjoy and explore Dingle

overnight Pax

Day 7:

On to Killarney. Play Tralee Golf early afternoon prior to checking into hotel. Enjoy Killarney town at night.

overnight The 19th Green

Day 8:

ROK, Gap of Dunloe, back to Killarney for dinner

overnight at The 19th Green.

Day 9:

early departure from Killarney for 13:15 flight to the states

So .....? What do you think?

Thank you in advance for insight and advice!

Thanks ... Stil a little concerned about staying in Killarney for the last night, but since our flight is @1:15 (13:15) we should be ok leaving early am. According to aaroadwatch, it should take just over 2 hours ... which means if we leave before 8, we should be OK. Or, of course, we could stay closer to Shannon for the last night, as we have done in the past and 'decrease' the last night jitters all together!

Just remember to give your self plenty of time. What AA Road watch says and what is in reality can be different.

If your leaving out on the weekend than I say fine. If its a weekday flight add more time for early morning work traffic. I think you'll be fine.

You might think about a B&B on the Low Road in Bunratty for the last night. It's only 15 minutes from the airport and you could take the kids to the Celli or the Banquet at The Castle for you last night and go to the Folk Park in the morning before you leave. Park House is a nice B&B and there are a number of other nice ones also. The road goes betwwn Durty Nelly'sw Pub and the Castle...there's even a Blarney's woolen mills accross the stree. But the B&B's are like in the country with horse's in the pastures etc just 2 or 3 minutes away.

day 1 ok

day 2 waaaaay too much to do in one day

day 3 should be ok but will be a busy day

day 4 very busy day

day 5 ok

day 6 ok

day 7 not much to entertain the kids at night, as they can't be in the pub after 9:00...what will you do after you leave dingle and before you play golf?

day 8 a really really really long day...rok alone will take about 6 hours.....well, it will if you are going to "see" it.....

and i agree with the other poster i would opt for bunratty your last night...and the kids would probably love the village and the ceili.....

it obvious your trip is planned around hubby's golf and how lucky is he?..but sounds like a fun time for you and the kids is being seen after...hope they will love it.....

just some thoughts on your plans, not meant to change your mind, just something to think about....
