Kinsale for a week - day trips?

Hi there. We are two Canadian couples travelling to Ireland for the first time in May. We arelanding in Dublin and spending a few days, travelling to Galway & Connemara for a couple, down to Doolin & Cliffs for a couple and then to Kinsale where we've rented a cottage for a week. The plan is some relaxing, some day trips. Cork, Cobh, definites - hope the Rock of Cashel not too far for a day.

Any other suggestions of some different things to see while in the south? We love old stuff, standing rocks, pubs (of course!) and history. Oh, and the guys want to golf.

Grateful for all input.

Beara, Sheeps Head and Mizen peninsula's, small food on big plates. an Exclusive Golf club and Yachts, all but the first 3 being a little tongue in cheek.

Head south for a day to Mizen Head then onto lunch on the pier in Crookhaven. Gorgeous views! Another great day trip would be to Baltimore and take the ferry to Sherkin Island.

Thanks for the tips - I'll investigate Mizen Head. Don't know about exclusive golf clubs and yachts, not our style :-)

The history walk in Kinsale is a must. Charles Fort and James Fort are on your doorstep.

Also the Aghinagh way has lots of standing stones. It is completely off the beaten track but you will see a hidden part of Ireland and lots of ancient artifacts. You can get the map at the Tourism office in Macroom. It might be an idea to email them and get them to post it to you.
