You may enjoy this article on hidden beaches and coastal areas, including Howth, in Co Dublin:

The beach in Howth is a bit hidden. It is, as jjm pointed out, behind the DART station.

Exiting the DART station, turn left and walk to the end of the buildings, turn left and left again into an unpromising alleyway. This leads to the Claremont beach.

Walk to the end of Claremont Beach to reach (my favourite) Burrow Beach - check out the lovely houses by the beach - fortunate residents include U2 drummer Larry Mullen.

I should add, the access to Burrow Beach via Claremont Beach gets cut off at high tide, so keep an eye on this or you will have a long walk back via the road!
