Castledaly Manor/Castledaly Holidays

Has anyone booked a holiday tour at Castledaly Manor near Athlone? The tours are booked by Castledaly Holidays which is associated with Harp & Eagle Ltd. Any information about this Manor, the tour or the company offering the tour would be greatly appreciated.

We too are looking at this tour. It is a great price. I wonder if you are able to see some of the best of what the country has to offer.

Don't know if this is still relevant time-wise, but yes, we did their tour in Oct 2005. It is a really nice place and we have recommended it to several people. There were 15 people in our group but by the end of the week we well aquainted with just about everyone staying there. We were in the "stables" section and not the Manor itself, but don't let the "Stables" name fool you - there were no animals or animal smell. These are very well re-done, updated/modern rooms with fairly large bathrooms. They have a nice pub right at the manor, and some locals come see whose there and meet new people. Everyone was super friendly, and in fact I just saw the manager Gerry, and Declan (our tour guide type guy at Castledaly) promoting the Manor at the Irishfest in Milwaukee, WI in August. Each day there was a day-trip to take (for a fee). We really enjoyed being able to see the mid-section of the country and stay at the same place everynight (not packing and unpacking everyday). The day trips at that included the Cliffs of Mohr, Connemara Celtic Crystal, Galway, Strokestown Park (a famine museum and beautiful gardens), Lockes Distillery, a monastic site, day trip to Dublin, Kilkenny, etc. They were very accommodating if you didn't want to take one of the day trips they could suggest something else or get you a taxi into Moate, Athlone or the train. Or if a large enough group wanted to all do one alternate together they set something up. We were quite nervous about going there too, but were very satisfied with the experience.
