Stay near Cashel?

We plan to head out on a Monday morning in July after a couple days in Dublin to drive to Glendalough for some scenery and maybe an easy walk, then on to Cashel to see the Rock. The next day we'll move on to the Dingle Peninsula to spend the rest of the week. Is Cashel a good place to overnight, or would you suggest another village nearby but in the Dingle direction? We like pub grub and comfort food over upscale and an evening spent someplace where we can enjoy conversation and get a sense of the place.

Thanks!

Cashel town is fine for one overnight if you want to break the journey. Joys Rockside house gets great reviews there. www.joysrockside.com

Also, consider the heritage town of Adare which is further along the road on your route to Dingle.

Cashel to Dingle - 130 miles. 3 hours driving all going well and no stops.

Adare to Dingle - 85 miles. 2 hours driving.... ditto.....

Cashel or Cahir would be good options to get to mix with a few locals before heading west.
