Where are some good pubs & where can we hear good Irish...

We are going to be in Ennistymon Feb 28 - March 4, 2006 and would love to know some interesting places to see and things to do around the town. Can anyone give us some suggestions?

Hi Snaekers. It's a small town, but there is a pub right on Main St. that is nice. I don't know if there's music in there though. Lahinch, which is a couple of miles up the road, has plenty though. In Ennistymon you could take a stroll by the falls. There's a little road that looks like an alley that leads to it. It's just down the block from that pub. There is a sign for it that if my memory serves me says The Cascades. Another way is to go into the grounds of The Falls Hotel and go that way. Enjoy.

For music go to Cooley House. Enda Haran usually plays. If you really want to do it in style do a pub crawl. From the Lahinch Road Griffin's, over the bridge and turn right to Healy's, cross the road to The Fisherman's Rest also known as The Hatchet (long story), follow the road into town to Davoren's, Daly's.Turn into Parliament street to The Dug Out. Back on to Main Street turn right to Nagle's (Pub and undertakers). Cross the road to and go up to Marrinan's, Cullinan's, The Sportsman Inn (locally known as Murt's), Cooley House and Eugene's .

You can also go to the Falls Hotel. There are two other pubs that open very now and again, some nights after Bingo.

Galvin's in Lahinch used to have music but it was blown up in a gas explosion.

Doolin is your best bet for Trad music. Also try Milltown Malbay.
