sea view near Dunfanaghy 1 night and 1 night near Bunbeg

Planning a trip to Ireland and need some help..... We are planning on coming from the Antrim coast (by way of the the Famine museum in Doaghmore) over to Donegal and I really would love to stay in a B&B or hotel with a view of the coast, the closer to the water the better, but not in town. The first night I'd like to be somewhere near Dunfanaghy and the second night somewhere near Bunbeg or Glenveagh Castle as that will most likely be our last stop before heading down to Shannon. A beautiful view is more important to us than proximity to restaurants or shops.

Also, if someone could recommend a boat tour or ride company somewhere in between those two locations, of perhaps 3 hours or less, that would be fantastic. Our primary interest is birds and sea creatures.

Thanks!!!

Arnonds hotel or the shandon two nicest hotels in dunfanghy. horse riding and surfing close by as well as yoga on the beach. Bunbeg, Campbells Bed and breakfast, fantastic hospitality, food and spotless rooms. Try Sean Ogs for great food and Huidi Beags for traditional irish music live sessions. Take a boat trip to Gola or Inishman island, bird sanctuarys and all the original cottages still there since being abandoned around the 1950s. Then take a drive to Bloody Foreland for the most spectacular view of all. If more energetic climb Errigal and have a drink in McGeadys Baw When you descend. Dunlewley centre also has a little boat trip along donkeys and other animals at the foot or Errigal.

We visited Dunfanaghy a few years ago; I really liked this little town. Arnolds is in the town, but does look out across to the sea and beyond to Horn Head. There's a lovely drive out around Horn Head:

Haven't stayed here, but you might like to check it out:

Re: Boat trips

You can take the ferry across to Tory Island - but you really need a full day:

or the Slieve League Cliffs boat trip:

fyi: Bunbeg to Shannon area is approx. 350km and will take around 6-6.5hrs.

You can use routeplanner to plot your journeys, but note that the drive-times quoted are "Minimum" and we advise adding a further 20% to those times for a more accurate figure:

The coast of Clare is great for bird watching especially around the Cliffs of Moher (peregrine falcons and a variety of sea birds) and Loop Head (choughs, sea birds and dolphins), but you might not have time for this area?

In Bunbeg you might take a look at www.ostangweedore.com. I have not been there in several years but it does overlook a small bay and the ocean in the distance.
