Where to stay?

I'm going to RNP Aug 25-27 (2 nights). Where would you recommend I stay? I need an inexpensive, clean, and safe place to stay. I'm not looking for a camping site. Thanks.

Wow, that's just a few days away and summers are busy. Without knowing what you call "inexpensive", look at Ravenwood in Klamath ... Crescent City has several motels that might ... Arcata has a Motel 6 and several others clustered off Giuntoli Lane ... also in that area of Arcata is the Quality Inn. We stayed there in June for about $75/night and it was perfectly fine. Here is my review & pics:

Trinidad is a pretty little town and has some inexpensive older motels:

We camped in Trinidad. Pulled in late at night and just went into town for dinner. It was foggy and we couldn't see much, but what I did see, I liked it better than Eureka or Crescent City (but we were only driving through on the highway - maybe those towns have prettier areas we missed?). It is very, very small and you'd have to go into Eureka for services, but there's a couple of nice restaurants, a coffee shop and a small grocery store, so that's probably all you'd need for a couple of days. Fairly centrally located on the coast for exploring the Redwoods area.

Have you looked at the hotel reviews for the towns along the 101?

Crescent City is at the northern end of things. We liked the Curly Redwood Lodge.
