TGV - can we catch next train if flight delayed?

Is it possible to catch the next train if we are late arriving?

Hi diswix,

If you buy the cheaper PREM tickets online they are only valid for the TGV time that you book. You can't exchange them or get a refund if you miss that train.

I believe that the ordinary tickets can be used on a later train, but you have to go to the TGV tickets office and get them exchanged for seats on the one you want ( assuming the train is not already fully booked).

It is very hard to estimate how long it will take from plane arrival time to getting to the right platform for your train in the TGV station, which is why it can be better to use a private transfer or VEA bus for arrival, but use the TGV for return as you can be sure of catching the booked train.

Frequency of the TGV varies from about 20 mins to 90 mins, so annoying if you miss the one you wanted and then have to wait some time for the next one. The TGV sounds a quick option from CDG to DLP with a 10 min journey, but you have to consider the whole picture, including getting to Terminal 2D lower level for the TGV station, and then to your hotel from Chessy station. Overall, a private transfer can be quicker and cheaper for a family, and less hassle with children and luggage.

The answer to this question will depend entirely upon the type of ticket you hold. Non refundable tickets, such as PREMs, will have no value on any train other than the train for which it ticket was issued.

Generally, tickets may be exchanged up to two hours after the scheduled departure, but the lines can be very long at the CDG service desk resulting in additional departure delays. Changing trains can also result in higher ticket costs.

While the CDG to Marne la Vallee TGV is itself very fast (9 to 10 minutes), the time it takes to obtain new tickets, if you miss your originally scheduled train, make purchasing them in advance problematic.

Children 3 and under travel free if they are held in the lap of a paying passenger.

Tickets are generally available for sale 3 months (approximately 90 days) before any given travel date.
