Trip report 26th May to 30 May DCR

Trip to DLP 2 adult and 1 just turned 4 year old

Stayed at the Davy Crockett Ranch Sunday 26th May

After months on trip advisor getting helpful info from you all, we set off for the tunnel. Good trip down on the motorway and 15 minutes after arriving at the terminal we were on the train. Very impressed. Drove down to the Novotel was really easy. Being a Sunday afternoon the roads were quiet, ‘Rouge tariff' was in operation so it cost around 24euros at the one toll. Got to the hotel and had dinner in the restaurant. Food was expensive but the burger was good!

Monday 27th May

After quick breakfast headed to the DCR, arriving at 8am, collected park tickets and restaurant confirmations - all were correct so first bit of planning had worked!. Quick drive to the park and we walk up to the main gate for EMH. Not sure why but the EMH were in the Studio, a little surprised but headed off to go on cars. Walked back to Disneyland park for opening and up into Fantasyland.

Got in shortly after 10 so there were little queues first thing and straight onto Le Carrousel. Did Peter Pan, Dumbo, Alice Labyrinth and It's a small world.

Then off to Café Mickey for lunch. Saw Mickey, Tiger, Pluto, Gepetto, Chip and Dale. Unlike last year Mickey seemed in a rush, not really interacting with us, and others, which was a shame, luckily tiger was really good. Food took ages, in there about hour and a half.

Back into park again, and Buzz, Dumbo, peter pan and is a small world again.

Went to Studio for the 4pm parade and then into playhouse. Show was good but be warned. You go into a holding room and then through the red doors at the end into the main room with a stage. Everyone goes down to the stage and then you have to sit on the floor. We were near the front but there was very little room behind as people try to get as close as possible! Felt like I was back at an assembly which was a little uncomfortable but DD enjoyed it a lot. Have a bag full of leaves that we' had to take' at the end of the show!!

Got take out sandwiches from Earls and headed back to the DCR. The weather had been good all day, nice and sunny and warm. It was really nice getting to the Cabin and having tea on the decking. Nice way to relax with a glass of wine in the evening sun. Our cabin was very close to the main buildings so a couple of minute walk to shop and pool.

Tuesday 28th May

Starts the day with rain showers. Back to the park for EMH, Off again to Fantasyland. Met up with friends who were staying at NPB. They had major problems checking in the day before due to power cut, took almost 2hrs to get the key. Reception was not a happy place by all accounts!

Did the same rides again which worked well with not too long queues due to the weather. Did story book ride and also Casey Jr, did during a down pour but all laughed about it when we got off. ( sadly had a open carriage!!)

Had lunch at the Auberge du Cendrillon. Arrived around 12 and was seated about 12.10. Aerial came over and spoke to DD within about 10 minutes after photos with Suzy and Perla at the start. Cinderella came over shortly after but was quick. Waited for Snow white and ‘the prince' to arrive at the table, which took about an hour. I just had to ask him what his first name was, he replied ‘the'! LOL!! Food was nice. Came away feeling a little saddened at the little amount of time the princess spent with us, compared with last year.

Spent the afternoon on Buzz and back to Fantasyland. Then off to Studio for Slinky dog and flying carpets. DD was flagging so headed back to cabin rather than waiting for the parade.

Wednesday 28th May

Spent the morning relaxing at the pool at DCR. Pool was nice and family friendly. Back to the park and off to Cowboy Cookout for lunch. As BTM was closed the area was quiet and the CC was quiet, quick service this time. They should bring the character meals back for here.

Walked to fantasyland and caught the celebration Train. Donald and Daisy were brilliant. We were jumping and waving and they copied what we did which was strangely really pleasing!!! Massive smiles! Went on to Buzz, Orbitron and then back to our favourite Fantasyland.

Stayed for the Disney Magic on Parade. Our faith in Disney was restored during the parade. We were on the corner of Town square near a family with a child with additional needs. All the characters and dancers came over to say hello to them during the parade, which must have made their day. Also the Disney magic was in full force when adults moved back to allow children to come to the curb so that they could see.

Had booked inventions for dinner but after the rushed character at Café Mickey and Aubergue decided to give it a miss.

Thursday 29th May

Morning in the park, including Fantasyland (again!!) and lunch at Pizzeria Bella Notte. A couple of heavy showers just after lunch. Thanks for the tip of the walkway between Peter Pan and Casey's Corner. It felt like only we new about it! Really quiet but a great route avoiding the rain. Left the park at 3pm just as the train came out of Town square, so one more chance to sing along and wave! DD was good at waving and blowing kisses by now which always seemed to work!!

Just over 3hrs later we were up at Calais and straight onto the train, Toll was 21.40 this time! A really busy few days but DD loved it. DCR cabin was really good again, no complaints about it. They didn't have characters at DCR while we were about but guess we were unlucky with the timings.

Thank you to everyone who helped with all the questions and all the other threads which really helped.

Great trip report CP, thanks so much for posting I've really enjoyed reading it.

Sounds like you have had a good trip but sorry that you felt rushed in cafe Mickey and auberge. Sometimes it's the luck of the draw with the CMs that day which isn't really on.

How do you get to the walkway from Peter Pan? We go back in December so might need to use that to keep out of the rain or snow!

Xxx

The walkway goes from peter pan, come out of pp ride and turn right. There is an arch between fantasyland and adventure land. Turn left and follow this path down past the restaurant on your left. You come round to the agrabah cafe. Here cross over towards the mini Aladdin story entrance and go between it and the shop on your right. There is a little walk way. Follow this and it comes out at the fort at the emtrance to frontierland. Cross over, through cave entrance and this brings you down to the edge of casey's corner.

Hope that helps!!

Great TR, sounds like you had a great time (apart from rushed character meals) Did you not stay to watch dreams? The new scenes are fab!

Hi Amanda

No we didn't get to see it.

we had planned to do it on the last night but we decided not to try our luck keeping dd up! We had seen the parade and she loved it as all the characters and dancers come up so close that it was a nice point to leave it for her.

I really wanted to see dreams and had seen it on u tube, looks amazing, but felt it was important to not try and do too much and end up with a grumpy dwarf!!!

Hi CP, thanks for posting this TR. It's interesting to hear back from a poster who stayed at DCR instead of in resort. Your cabin location sounds good, with a sunny terrace - what number was it? Was it a 2 bedroom Premium cabin?

I remember your saying you had booked the Novotel, but where exactly is it on the Calais side? Sounds quite close to DCR. Sorry to hear your Character interaction was disappointing in your meals, and surprised you didn't see any Characters at DCR being a Disney property.

Good to hear you remembered the dry route from Fantasyland to the front of the park, which I sometimes forget to use! Mentioned in this thread with a youtube link -

And also in this thread -

Thanks for the info about the current Toll prices.

Shame you did not see Dreams on this trip, but there is always next time, and you obviously planned your days to suit your family without overdoing it. Sounds like a very successful holiday!

hi Figgygirl

We stayed at the Novotel Marne La Vallee Collegien. Its near the junction with the A4 and A104. From the hotel it was only a 10 minute drive to DCR. Its a quick drive from the hotel to jct 12 of the A4 then you come off at jct 13 for the DCR.

We stayed in a Premium Plus cabin. Cabin number 1529. Really good location with a short walk to the main facilities. I've just put on a review of the cabin and the novetel

HI Figgygirl

We arrived at DCR on the Monday. They were referbing the character location and said it would be back on on Wednesday. We went across to the shop to see if they were there but must missed it. Seen reports from others that they did see characters recently so guess we were just a little unlucky with timing.
