We are going to St Julians for the first time in July and would be grateful for some information on some good bars and restaurants.

Paparazzi Restaurant 2137 4966 159, St. Georges Road, Paceville

www.starwebmalta.com/profile.asp?id=PAP001

Peperoncino, 8 Bay Street, Balluta Bay, St. Julian's, (+356) 21 388 872 I would guess that it is near the old tower once used by TGI Fridays Opening times, 18:30 - 23:00, Sunday lunch: 12:30 - 14:30, closed on Tuesdays http://www.peperoncinomalta.com/

Piccolo Padre is underneath the Barracuda, 195 Main Street, Saint Julian’s, 21344875, this is cheaper than the Barracuda, has a good selection of pizzas, pastas and fish dishes including swordfish steaks main courses are range from about €9 to €14. http://www.piccolopadre.com

Krispy cafe... That's the place our kids were trying to tell us about. It must be a relatively new bar as I don't think it was there in 2010 when we last visited.

The kids loved this place. Said the owner was lovely and always had the air con on lol.

I think I will be showing my face in there pretty soon.

It's actually been there for a few years! The owners are both really nice and they have a pool table and big screen for the football. Really nice place to go, although not in the most obvious place. Should get busier when the Valentina Hotel extension is done as it looks on to the back of it.

Steak - Meet (best steak I've had on the island)

Pub Food - The Scotsman (fish and chips is the biggest plate of food I've had on the island)

Fish - Zeri's (specials change daily, if he's got the crayfish on, crayfish salad is the best starter I've ever had - also got a good selection of meat and vegetarian dishes as recommended by friends)

Indian - Shivas (careful with the 2 chili dishes, when they say hot, they mean hot, but very tasty with it which is not always the case elsewhere)

Chinese - Spoon (cheap and cheerful, great location in Portomaso, huge portions, one main meal could feed a small family).

Value for Money Mediterranean - 1927 (small menu complemented by regularly changing very fresh specials)
