Getting to Dunblane from Edinburgh

I will be in Scotland on an organised tour and would like to try and get to Dunblane for at least a half a day but the transport systems don't seem that regular.

Any suggestions - I suppose a taxi would be way too dear?

A taxi would be very expensive and isn't necessary. You can get a train from Edinburgh's main station, Waverley, to Dunblane for about £8 return (off peak) and it'll take about an hour. There's a train every half hour. Buy your ticket just before you board.
