Eating on a budget in Le Touquet

Hi

We will be in Le Touquet next week and don't have a huge budget for eating out. I've heard that Le Touquet is very expensive but are there any good value places to eat nearby? We do have cooking facilities so we'd also like to know where to buy meat, fruit, veg etc. Is there a supermarket the locals use?

Many thanks

Sue

Le Touquet is no more expensive than other Northern France towns (Boulogne, St Omer, Arras, etc) .

The whole of the Euro zone is expensive compared with, say, five years ago but most eating places in Le Touquet have reasonable priced menus.

Every bar, cafe, brasserie and restaurant have boards outside advertising the menus and prices so at least you always know what you're likely to pay.

There are at least 30 bars, over 60 restaurants including speciality restaurants (Chinese, Italian) and many take-aways (Pizza, Frites).

If you get really desperate there's a McDonalds at Etaples 3 miles away.

There are markets on Mon, Thurs and Saturday mornings and they close by noon.

There are loads of fruit and veg shops, butchers and bakers on the main streets - Rue de Metz has most of them.

Super markets in and around Le Touquet are probably best for bulk items rather than day to day shopping.
