Greek Wine

Can anybody recommended a Greek dry white wine to look out for in the supermarkets, something along the lines of a Chardonnay, I've had Retsina many moons ago and it was like battery acid, that stuff could strip paint.

I'll be sticking with the Mythos but the wife like a wine or three.

I think my husband drinks Aphelia & Villare if I remember rightly !

He is a very dry white wine drinker or full bodied red!

He also likes the house wine at the Kalypso restaurant (I dont know what that one is!)

I hate to say but they all taste the same to me!

There are many Chardonnay wines on sale, each supermatket should have a choice of at least 5 or 6 brands. One of my favorites is Chardonnay Gerovassiliou.

Hi there

Specific labels to look out for are:

Antonopoulos Chardonnay

Arghyros 1998 Santorini Vareli

and from the Boutari winery CHARDONNAY ΚΑΜΠΑ and CHARDONNAY ΜΠΟΥΤΑΡΗ.

The white wines from the Boutari estate are all very good.

As a general guide white wines from the regions of Macedonia and Santorini are both fruity with citrus and oak flavours, very similar to a Chardonnay.

Happy wine tasting and happy hols.

If you ask for the house Red or White we find that we get a good drinkable wine that costs about a 1/3rd of the cost of the bottled brands.

Ask for half a kilo or kilo of house.
