Rhodes on a Budget for first timers?

Hi there,

As a family of four (with possibly another adult aswell) i am looking into Rhodes for Summer 2014, somewhere we have always wanted to visit. However, my husband in particular is worried about the cost of eating out. (Kids will be 11 and 13 and like Adult meals) We have done mainly AI and Fullboard whilst the children were very young. Can anyone recommend a good family friendly place to stay, poss Bed and Breakfast etc with a nice pool; and bar and give an insight into how much an evening meal can cost and a round of drinks?

We like beautiful scenery, History, nice walks, no crass commercialism and a bit of entertainment! What would be a reasonable amount of spending money to take?

*Apologies. This should have gone in main Rhodes Forum i think*

As a couple, we budget around €100 a day and it's more than enough, we tend to eat out most days & nights, do some excursions and like a drink or four ;-)

I think if you budget €50pp per day, you wont go far wrong...

As for somewhere to stay, there's numerous self catering hotels in Lindos that would suit you down to the ground... Lindos View, Lindos Gardens & Lindos Athena to name a few...

You just mention Rhodes and not Lindos in particular, but if you love beautiful scenery, history and somewhere that has a bit more class then Lindos is perfect.

Only one B&B, in the village but no pool. If you want a pool you will need to stay on Krana (just above Lindos) where most places are self catering. Lindos has so many fantastic places to eat and drink, you really don't want to spend all your time in the hotel. If you're on a budget maybe eat out every other night? Supermarkets on Krana and in the village for most things you could want. Or have a gyros on a few evenings (€2.50, delicious and very filling).

The village at night is a great place, fantastic atmosphere, lots of bars and places to eat to suit all tastes and budgets.

As said, €50 per person per day is more than enough, you could probably manage on less. I budget for €40 a days, sometimes I spend a lot less, sometimes more!
