Interesting question.Depends what you mean by decent. I would say that Vecindario is almost there but really Las Palmas and outskirts is the answer.

However there are shops in a centre at the Yumbo at that is probably the best in PDI. The Varadero in Meloneras is the nearest to your hotel but it would be a 'decent shopping centre' in my book.

But really it depends on what you mean.

You're staying at the Lopesan in Maspalomas?

There are several small boutique malls and designer shops close to the hotel but if you want a large shopping centre, then I agree Vecindario (a town close to the airport) has a large shopping centre called the 'Atlantico' - You can reach it by bus but you'll have to check at the bus station as it's a bit tricky.

If you're looking for Perfumes, Tobacco, gift souvenirs, Leather, then try the Yumbo centre in Playa del Ingles, but watch the prices and don't buy designer goods here as it may well be fake. For perfumes etc, try the shop called 'Fund Grube' on the top level of the Yumbo centre. Open until 10pm. By night this becomes a great area for bars and clubs and also is the Gay centre of the resort.

Just above Playa del ingles - Take a no.73 bus from Maspalomas bus station is 'San Fernando'. Here you'll find all manner of different shops, supermarkets etc, at local prices. But you may have to speak a little Spanish as this is a local residents area but very friendly.

Hope this helps.

Vecendario would as said be your nearest shopping area ,and for a first time visitor would be better than heading for the vast and wide spread shopping areas of Las Palmas .But if that doesnt put you off then go for it .

Vecendarios Atlantico shopping area holds such shops as ,Cortfiel, Zaras ,Mango ,Pull and Bear ,Springfield ,Pimpkie ,Stradavarious etc .

There is a large supermarket CarreFore ,which is great fare better selection and prices than local supermarkets ....but remember to get freezer bags for all items and shop last before leaving and heading back to your hotel .Especially if your using buses and standing around at bus stops .They also have an electrical store ,far better to buy from here than the Asain shops around the resorts with all their tat and fake electrical goods and over forceful selling !!

Not just the Atlantico shopping centre in Vecendario ,if you head out fro the Cinema exit/entrance then head over to the right and go up the road you will pass a football ground and a small shopping centre and by carring straight on you will come to a one way system ,head right with it .You will find lots of shops ,more privately owned rather than chain stores ...............
