Warning to anyone going to Club Riu Meloneres

We were booked to go to this hotel for 10 days in May.

We received a telephone call this morning from Thomsons to say there is major refurbishment taking place at the adjacent Riu Palace Hotel. Riu are saying if you still want to stay at the Club Hotel there will be minimum disruption as they will move everyone to the other side of the hotel!

Thomsons offered us a change to Princess at Taurito but, although I am sure it is a lovely hotel, it just did not suit us,

We thought we were in for a long fight but we were pleasantly surprised when we were told we could change hotels to wherever we wished as long as we paid ourselves if there was a price difference.

So we are now off to Turkey for two weeks.

Just hope everyone else gets to hearof this problem so they can make their own informed choice.

Happy holidays everyone ;o)

Riu are obviously doing the rounds with Meloneras refurbs. I think last year they did the Club, so this year they are doing the Palace....

Now if only they'd do the Paraiso Lanzarote.

Bump;ing this one up. Thomsons are apparently notifying people but this is for anyone who may have booked independently. To be forewarned is to be forearmed!! ;o)

Thanks for that info, we as a party of four are also booked at this hotel to travel on the 19th of May. I recieved an E mail saying much the same. We went to Tompsons to clarify a few points, and were assured after several phone calls that all will be fine as the Rui Palace will be closed as from the5th of May, so no influx of guests from the Palace to crowd our facilities.

Sorry to sound so cynical but, of course, the Riu Palace will be closed. They are having a major refurb so there will be massive disruption. As the Riu Palace is adjacent to the Riu Club it is expected that there will also be noise and/or dust to upset the people holidaying at the Riu Club. We were not prepared to take the chance and Thomsons changed our holiday without any quibble.

Another person on this forum (see ' e mail address' thread) has also changed their holiday with no fuss from Thomson ;o)
