we are thinking of coming in December, do the buses still run frequently as want to travel round the island this way instead of using the tour operator tours

There are plenty of buses .

Most places are easy to get to.

Best bet is to buy the 7 day ticket for 12.00 euros. It allows you to travel on any buses up until the night service at 23.00 hours.

I can't see the winter timetable start date on Arriva's website yet, but I would expect them to commence at the end of October, about when the clocks change.

I believe September will still be on the Summer timetable, which includes some extra routes to beaches etc.

is it easy enough to get a taxi back from places like Valleta, Rabat, Sliema, Mosta just incase we can't get a bus, are prices of taxi's expensive?

Hi I am booked to come to Mellihia at the end of September and looking at transfer from the airport. I would be grateful if anyone has any advice as we are considering using the local buses. Heas anyone done this or have any recommendations?
