room upgrades?

Hubby and I are going to Oasis Brisas Santa Lucia June 5. Can we upgrade room/view etc. when we arrive? Is there any VIP upgrade? Chameleon Select make a difference really? Looking for cenotes or good hiking. Any suggestions?

The closest you will find is in Camaguey Province but not specifically in Santa Lucia.

"The province has many natural attractions. The Sierra de Cubitas ecological preserve has several natural corridors, more than 70 caves of great speleological and archeological value, and interesting flora and fauna. Walk through Paredones Pass - a deep defile nearly 5000 feet (1500 m) long on the bed of an extinct river, between rocks more than a million years old and roofed over by plants where colorfull birds nest - Vigueta Pass, where you can see several endemic species of flora and fauna; and on to Lechuza (Owl) Cave, whose galleries lead to halls 164 feet (50 m) in diameter. Bonet's Pit, the largest known karst depression in Cuba, is 295 feet (90m) deep and has important vegetation. Maria Teresa's and Pichardo's Caves contain Indian pictographs."

For underground climbs, try Rolando's Chasm, 433 feet (132 m) deep, with a lake at the bottom around 164 feet (50 m) in diameter, or Mayanna's Chasm, a cave with a vertical access 295 feet (90 m) deep and a dry bottom.

room upgrades should be possible at this time of year if they are not renovating. beach front is the entertainment and pool area so can be quite active 'til 11 at nite. the cameleon has a nice garden section. we'll be in and out of brisas to see friends so maybe we'll meet. you'll love the beach walks. visit in at caracol if you get a chance. snorkeling is great there.carol e.

I am recommending that you check the room you will be assigned too at your arrive. If it is not to your satisfaction, than you can ask to be moved. Work with your representative first as they are representing you and they can get you what you want - usually for free at this time of the year. It will not be busy at the time of your arrival. Victor the manager at Brisas always tries to fill the block of rooms in one location on the site as they do close part of the hotel blocks for the season - less maintenance and for everyones security. So you will probably be close to the beach. I do not recall if they have VIP upgrade at Brisas but they do next door at Gran Club. The rest of your questions were answered by others. You will certainly have a fabulous time. Don't forget to bring your bug spray "Raid". Denise
