chianti

we will be driving from Florence to Siena along 222. we will have 2 kids with us so we will only have time to visit two wineries. we would be most interested in wineries that are rates high as we would like to buy some and have it shipped to the US. Any other information you can give as far as a good place for lunch or a good place to bring the kids would be appreciated i.e. castles

I would suggest stopping at Greve in Chianti which is about halfway between Florence and Sienna and directly on the 222. Easy to park just off the main road and a nice town square with cafes and shops to have a wander through.

As for wine tours Castello di Verrazzano is just before Greve and is well sign posted from the main road. We went to Vignamaggio which is just past Greve and again a short drive from the main road.
