visiting peak district with a baby

Hello

we are visiting peak district with a 9 month old baby for 5 days this month. Main purpise is to relax so we would like to base ourselves in a scenic town with things to do around and nice restaurants.

Please advise:

Where should we base ourselves.

Any recommendation for hotels....swimming pool is a must as we intend to spend good time indoors

we are driving from london so max three hours drive

Would really appreciate help.

Thanks

I think that you might have to stay outside the Peak to achieve all of that - particularly an indoor pool.

Try the hotels in Buxton or possibly Derby.

Breadsall Priory, whilst "not quite exactly" in the Peak District, has a pool....

This might suit but I have never stayed there

Breadsall Priory is ok but as EW states is not in the Peak District. To my mind it is too much of a drive from there to get to the country towns and villages especially with a baby.

Thanks for your ideas. What about Barnsley? We have found Holiday INN there with a pool. Is it commutable to scenic places in peak. Which are must see places in peak. We would not mind an hours drive or so.

Thanks

I can't comment on Barnsley because I have never been.

As you are prepared to drive for an hour, the Breadsall Priory option is a good one.

You could also consider Risley Hall

Well....

As ever, MUST sees are what YOU want to see...

With a baby, though, you are going to be a bit limeted, no massive hikes, unless you put the baby in a backpack....

Try:

Chatsworth

Haddon Hall

Eyam

Matlock Bath/Heights of Abraham

Crich Tramway Museum

Arkwrights Mill

Buxton

Various show caves

Pennine Way/Kinder Scout/Mam Tor
