Dreams Riviera to Dreams Cancun for Dolphin Swim

We are staying at Dreams Riviera in December and read on the Dreams website we can go swim with the Dolphins at Dreams Cancun. I was wondering if anyone did this, and if it is worth it? Or, is there a better spot to go? We are traveling 6 of us, this includes my 16 and 14 year old who would love the expreince.

Can I politely ask you, or better still your children, to Google swimming with dolphins to see how cruel it is to keep these wonderful fellow mammals in captivity for our pleasure

Thanks on behalf of the dolphins

I know I am going to get flamed for my above post but it is very hypocritical of people to judge everyone who goes to these things, i actually have not been I might not ever but I noticed the same people who want to preach this stuff are the same people who would get bent out of shape if someone tried preaching religion or anthing else. If you eat an animal for tour pleasure I would say thats worse than swimming with one since you DIDN'T KILL IT. Just a little thought, if Dolphins are so smart, maybe they enjoy the interaction with humans and they know they are putting a smile on kids faces and they like it, it could be they are the ambassodors of dolphin/himan relationships. All I know is there are a hell of a lot worse things you can do to an animal andif people put as much thought into worying about the sufferings of humans as much as a dolphin(not saying the dolphin is suffering) we might all be better off

I dont agree with it either, but if it has to be done, then research thoroughly and opt for where the most consideration is given to the dolphins habitat and surroundings etc etc. My friend did one at Dreams 2 years ago, and said that whilst he enjoyed it, he didn't feel that it was a particularly great environment for the dolphins.

Soccerj, i think you can rest assured there are more than enough people in this world that care more about humans than animals, dont knock those that care as much about animals as they do humans. Animals dont have a voice.

I think poster #1 was just politely asking the OP to read up and make an informed decision.

Correct

We have recently returned from a trip where from our oceanfront villa we were able to see some manta rays majestically swim by a couple of times - just wonderful to see them in their natural environment

I let my nine year old daughter make her own decision. Did not want her to do something she may later regret. Over 50% of dolphins die in the first three months of captivity. Scientists on Animal Planet say don't do it. So my daughter says a big fat NO to swimming with dolphins in captivity. Very proud of her. There is so many places to go to see animals in their natural environment. Swim with turtles, whale sharks or the many reefs to see the colourful fish.

I'm not knocking anyone who cares about animals, just pointing out if your not a vegetarian and you eat animals its hypocritical to worry about swimming with them.
