We had Verizon with no problem. A word of warning about Verizon, call them prior to your trip and see if they offer any special packages for calls and data. I got an unlimited package for calls which I canceled upon return from my trip however, I should have gotten the unlimited data. They didn't tell me I would be charged for the streaming even if I didn't use the internet. All of my incoming for facebook, etc. ended up costing hundreds extra. They did give me a 150.00 credit for failing to tell me that. Had I bought the unlimited calls and data it would have been only around 125.00 for the month instead of the 400.00 extra they tried to hit me for.

I was wondering about the unlimited global data package through Verizon. I travel to Mexico a couple times a year and have only been told about the deal for 25.00 every 100mb of data used. Calls to the US were 1.00 a minute and text messages incoming 5 cents and 50 cents outgoing so the unlimited sounds great for unlimited as my kids love to play games and watch movies on the IPad.

Be careful to clarify with them-- they might charge $25 every time you use data and then turn off the phone, even if only 1 kb is used.

when I go, I have verizon and I had international calling added to my plan for the week. It cost me about $25. The last 3x we were at a resort that had free unlimited wifi so I didn't get any data package because we just used the resort wifi to facetime with home. this time we are going to DRC so I will look into a international data plan since they dont' have free wifi.

Call and talk with someone, don't do it on-line. I got the call plan added free of charge (only staying a week and explained that I was calling home only a couple of times for one or two minutes to check on things). Also, she recommended texting at half the call price.

Pertains only to phone not internet users of course.
