how is the sea/snorkeling?

We have been in Playa del Carmen lhe last few days and were planning to hop a bus to Puerto Morales to snorkel. The sea here has been very rough. Akumal was better than here but the water wss still quite cloudy. If the conditions in PM are no better we'll just come and hang out for a day and leave the gear behind. On the scene reports appreciated!

It is very windy today (Saturday, 10 May) in Puerto Morelos. Right now the port is closed, so there is no snorkeling. Come on down for a great meal and some sightseeing instead!

Thanks! We are planning on Monday. If you are still in PM Monday and think of giving an update that would be awesome

Bump this thread on Monday and I'll give you a weather report. The wind forecast is about the same for the next 2-3 days, but these things are very dynamic here on the Caribbean.

We had a call from Wet Set today canceling our snuba for tomorrow because of the wind. It has been windy all day here today.

We had heavier seas while at Playacar and PDC once, but most times it's perfect and the water and beach are very clean. We just returned from Bayahibe (DR) and the ocean and winds were high there everyday too.

I've always read that the beaches around the Iberostars and other resorts near Puerto Morelos is more prone to seaweed than at PDC and Playacar. Is that accurate?

Hi,

This is Lindsay from Wet Set Diving & Snorkeling Adventures.

If you are still around - the conditions are great now! Thanks to our barrier reef the water inside where the snorkel trips go never gets to churned up, so now that the port is finally open again the snorkeling is back on track and great!

Thanks!

Hoping to find out how the conditions are, and if one can tell if they might be okay for the next week or so...

We want to come from cancun to go snorkeling. Is there transportation from our hotel to PM included in any tours?

Bertram - Probably not or if you find one odds are they will charge you a ton. Cab fare each way is 400 pesos or $40 US. You could probably book a private transfer cheaper. You can take the bus very cheap (I dont recall exact but it is like 50 or 80 pesos pp). It lets you off on the highway at PM where you could grab the local bus for 5 pesos pp or a cab for 25 pesos to the square.
