Alys Beach

We are thinking about renting a place on Alys Beach but know nothing about it. What is Alys Beach like? What are the pros and cons of renting a place there? We are looking for more of a quiet and uncrowded beach and wondered if this would be a good location for that?

We just drive to Alys Beach for dinner the other night (george's - was great!). It's very pretty and a lot of construction is going on. It ranges from Mediterranean style to crazy huge mansions owned by celebrities. We stayed in the Blue mtn/Grayton area and it was reasonable and quiet. It's so pretty near the national rec area. Extremely quiet compared to Destin. But only a few minutes from Seaside etc or Sandestin if needed.

Alys Beach is simply beautiful! Very expensive but beautiful, we also have driven their for lunch at George's (very good) . We stayed in a carriage house in Rosemary Beach which is like a couple miles down the road! We actually rode our bikes down to Alys and looked at the beautiful vacation rentals! Again, it's really expensive, like $600 - $800 a night! I would recommend Rosemary beach which is also beautiful but pricey too.. We payed about $300/night for our place, but worth it, it feels like another world there!

We plan to go to Alys Beach to rent for a week in early December. It sounds like a romantic get away! Looking forward to this trip. How is the weather in Nov. Dec.?

You could have highs in the 70s or 50s - December is a transitional month for weather.

I found this place to have a very strange feel to it. I actually cut my visit to Alys Beach short. The 'town" remains substantially undeveloped after 10 years and I didn't find much to do. Won't be going back.....

Absolutely outrageous and elitist rental rates for a town that is barely developed. They have a LONG way to go. Double the rental rates available in Rosemary Beach, which is a town planned by the same developers about 1/2 mile down the road. Massive amounts of constructio going on in Alys right now, and no town center to speak of at this time. Little to do within walking distance unless the beach and pool are the only thing you are interested in.

The bright open spaces, alluring views, welcoming courtyards, relaxing sounds of trickling water from meticulously designed water features and refreshing coastal breezes make Alys Beach a haven for those seeking an escape.

@maggiemg is the 600-800 price range for the one bedroom or larger rentals?
