I want to walk from train station to light house with my granddaughter would like to know how many miles it is?
Almost two miles along the promenade with steep steps up to the lighthouse.
It is a very pleasant walk. Enjoy.
Thank you the next dry day we shall head out.
If any visitor feels like a longer walk, there is a Whitehead Heritage and Wellbeing Trail which "takes you around ten key points of interest in the town" with "interpretive signage at each point, with detailed information about that location." The leaflet (with map) is available from Tourist Information offices or online at www.carrickfergus.org/tourism

Note that where the Blackhead Path proper begins there's a coin-operated automatic toilet. It is on a platform above the car park area at the end of Marine Avenue / the Promenade. There are also some picnic tables there. Keep an eye out for wildlife - beyond the many birds and butterflies, at this time of year some of us have seen lizards, seals, and even dolphins. Please do bring a small drink, and sun screen, plus a hat - it has been marvelously sunny the past week or two.
