Hmmm ... there's a challenge, we'll be heading straight into our winter. Mostly restricts you to our northern half ie Queensland should be ok (don't know about the stingers) and perhaps Cable Beach in Broome WA.

Hmmm, how warm is warm?

Basically the closer to the Equator the warmer it is (especially at night) and the further south you go the more likely you will strike cold weather

On the east coast at that time of year I would look at beaches Whitsundays and further north. e.g. Cairns, Port Douglas, Palm Cove., Mission Beach - do some searches around those names and you'll surely find somewhere nice and warm

Cheers skip

I have been to Palm Cove just north of Cairns in August which is winter and it was warm enough to swim in the ocean and lie around in the sun. Nights got a little chilly, I still wore summer gear but took a wrap

Hi, as the others have advised, May isn't the greatest time for a beach holiday in Australia. However if you go far north to Palm Cove or Port Douglas it should be nice. Fly into Cairns, but don't stay there, it's crap! Shuttle buses from Pord Douglas and Palm Cove will transfer you to these lovely towns less than an hour's drive. Broome in Western Australia would be good too, but it's harder to get to. Or ou could be adventures and do the red centre, check out Lichfield and Kakadu! Amazing!

"Cairns is crap", really ! What a peculiar remark from someone who goes on to extol the virtues of Palm Cove, a suburb of Cairns.

Hard one !!

Naturally one goes North to get the sunshine, however I have had a dip on the Gold Coast at this time of the year.

Cairns/Port Douglas/ Whitsunday Islands/Broome/ Coral Bay/ Exmouth would be my picks.
