Entry Visa

This a warning to anyone who is thinking of travelling from the UK for a holiday less than 3 months in duration. DO NOT use a website called austentry.org we thought we were dealing direct with Australian immigration, however they did not advise us we did not need to pay and we ended up paying £140 each for our visas, please be aware when applying for yours.

A warning is always appreciated since too many people get sucked into websites that look official but are not. A good rule-of-thumb is that official government websites will end in “.gov”.

The official Australian government website for information on and applications for visas, ETAs, etc. is: www.immi.gov.au

Ouch that is a steep fee.

What visa did they arrange for you? Was it the eVisitor subclass 661 that is usually feee, an ETA (small charge usually) or another type of tourist visa (they cost more normally)

The sub-class 651 eVisitor visa is free for UK (and EU) passport holders.

The Australian government visa website is https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1

Edit: The website in Longhorn's post #1 is correct too. It automatically switches through to the newly-named Border.gov.au website.

Whilst you were ripped off by the agency, as obviously many people must do also, you should have done some research first and looked on the official site, because all the information about getting the right visa and the cost is there. Or, ask here.
