Road trip Narrabeen (Sydney) to Noosa Heads and back 6 days?

Hi

We will be visiting my son and his wife in Narrabeen and are planning a road trip with them up to friends in Noosa just before Christmas. We have 6 days - thought possibly stay in Coffs Harbour on the way there, then two nights in Noosa, and back via Byron Bay.

Does this sound possible or just crazy? How many hours driving per day? Would appreciate any advice and suggestions

Many thanks

At that time of year the coast road will be very busy & it would be 2 days of driving each way, although if you're sharing the driving it wont be so bad. You wont see much of the coast unless you turn off the highway which will add time to your journey. Personally I would consider flying with that amount of time.

Early start day one would get you to Coffs Harbour early afternoon. Later for any/every stop(s) enroute.

day 2 to Noosa would have to be non-stop

days 3/4 in Noosa

Morning 5 to Byron

day 6 another full day drive (think 10 hrs)

lot of driving for 2 full days at Nooss, and 2 afternoons to sightsee Coffs/Byron.

Worthwhile? Only you can judge.

I think I would stick to northern New South Wales. The Tweed coast (just nth of Byron) and Byron have some of Australia's best beaches, equal to those around Noosa, and some subtropical rainforest inland from Bryon. Inland from Coffs worth exploring. And a few small coastal village/national park detours along the way would be lot less rushed drive.

If Noosa is a must see, better fly the family to Brisbane and rent a car and explore that way.

it would be more costly as I am assuming you plan a drive using your sons car

Thanks - yes, planning to use my sons car to keep costs down - we're coming from South Africa so the exchange rate is about 8:1 !!

We will have to consider carefully if that much driving is actually worth it, but at least now I have a clearer picture.

Hi, don't suppose your friend would be able to meet you half-way? Then you and friend could both see something new eg mid north coast. Enjoy your trip whatever you end up doing.

With only a short time I also suggest you fly, Byron Bay would be an ideal destination - hire a car & then drive to Noosa.

If driving - this link will assist you regarding attractions along the way.
