Pacific Hwy Blocked by Floods

Please check with the "My Roads Site" for Hwy conditions.

Currently the Pacific Hyw is blocked for north bound traffic at Port Macquarie and the accommodation is full according to the local news. Please if you want to travel north of Port Macquarie by road don't leave home until the Hyw opens. Should be a day or two!

The New England Hwy remains open but many coastal areas are cut off.

Pacific H'way roadblock at Woodburn, traffic can get through as far as Iluka only. Roads under water around Yamba/Maclean.

To go to Grafton, leave Pacific Hway at Ballina- Bruxner H'way to Casino, from there Summerland Way south....for destinations south of Grafton, west at Casino and via New England Hway, as there are more roads closed south of Grafton.

'My Roads Site' as mentioned above is part of www.rta.nsw.gov.au site. Very up to date info usually.

For more local road information in northern NSW refer to the unrelated www.myroadinfo.com.au covering many local governments areas.

Remember, if there is water between your tyres and the road surface, ask yourself, is it going to get better or worse if you go further. Any doubt, back up and get out of there. 1 fatality., 5 tourists with one lost rental vehicle, all possessions and passports etc, and a (should be) embarressed local police officer all were victims friday night...plus umpteen others rescued by SES volunteers. water isnt always deep, at first , but once your in it, fast moving currents, or deeper water etc can appear, turning back can be difficult by then and especially after dark judgment is difficult. Dont risk it in the first place. there is usually an alternative, and even if not a delay is better than loss of vehicle or worse.
