Cost of holiday from uk

Hi there

Planning a 3 week holiday in feb from the UK, so far i have been quoted between £9,000-£10,000 for 2 of us. Sounds like a lot to me- is this what others pay? This was for flights, hotels and car hire for 8 days. This is not a package but just agents putting it together (Trailfinders/Travelbag etc). I appreciate your thoughts.TIA

It really depends on where you are staying, how many flights, etc.

It's hard to say.

We're in Australia now from Canada and we are finding it quite expensive. We have saved by staying in hostels in private rooms and doing our own breakfasts and many other meals.

Uluru is extremely pricey.

As GW pointed out, it's hard to say.

If you actually have us the breakdown of what and where the quote was for, we can look at it in more detail.

It needs to be a bit more specific, eg which hotels.

eg 2 five star hotels.... Langham is currently running at around $300 per night Hyatt is at $800 (so 4 nights is $2000 difference or 1100 GBP ie 10%) Change it to a four star and the gap will be $400 for your 4 nights. (or over 16 nights about 800GBP)

Car Hire: $300 difference between 2 models (small versus a premium)

Feb is traditonally expensive as it is cruise season and there are lots of events on

Hi

Sorry, at this stage the travel agent just gave me a ball park figure and the total that I quoted, it would be 4star hotels.

I am thinking I will book it all independently, then I know exactly what I am paying for each part. I really just wanted to find out if other people were paying this type of price.

Many thanks.

I didn't know Feb was expensive! We are trying to avoid a cold Feb in Scotland!! I was told to avoid Jan as it is school hols in Oz- is that right? We wanted warm weather as well -I realise Feb is wet season for Port D.

January is the most expensive, and February is pretty heavy too as it is cruise season so lots of people side tack places.

DIY you can manage the costing more efficiently.

The travel companies IME seem to have price blocks based on the most expensive during that period. (I may be wrong) so you can benefit from avoiding certain places on weekends (or alternatively being there on weekends)
